Elvire Vaucher

PhD

Dr. Vaucher completed a PhD in Neuroscience of Université Paris VI, France. She then pursued two postdoctoral trainings at the Centre for Research in Neuroscience at McGill University and at Douglas Hospital (Quebec, Canada). Since 2000, Dr. Vaucher is faculty at the school of optometry, University of Montreal. She is exploring with passion research avenues to restore visual abilities or prevent blindness. In models of age-related macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy, she is developing pharmacological tools against retinal inflammation to prevent blindness. Another line of research uses a “bench to the bedside” approach to examine the neuropharmacology mechanisms of cerebral plasticity in order to boost vision.
