Dr. Theodore Rabinovitch is a distinguished leader in the field of laser vision correction. His celebrated career as a Laser Refractive Surgeon began at McGill University, where he earned his medical degree with a specialization in Ophthalmology. Subsequently, he completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California's world-renowned Francis I. Proctor Foundation in corneal surgery and ocular inflammatory diseases. A pioneer in the industry, Dr. Rabinovitch gained extensive experience with earlier procedures in excimer laser surgery when it was first introduced to Toronto in the late 1980's. He then continued on to be senior laser surgeon at the Herzig Eye Institute where he performed thousands of laser procedures for over a decade. During that time, Dr. Rabinovitch earned an outstanding reputation for both clinical and surgical excellence. His wide-ranging medical and surgical accomplishments have earned him a reputation as a preeminent authority in the specialty of cornea and refractive surgery and intraocular inflammation. He was chief investigator for the FDA for a novel anterior chamber intraocular lens for highly myopic patients and also for an investigational intraocular slow-release device for patients with more serious forms of intraocular inflammation. Today, Dr. Rabinovitch performs corneal transplants and is an important authority on Keratoconus. Committed to the growth and continual improvement of his field, Dr. Rabinovitch has played an active role in the medical community for years. As Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at University of Toronto, he has taught residents and performed research and lectured all over North America. He served as President of the York Finch Hospital Medical staff and since co-founding the Toronto Ophthalmological Society in 1991, has continuously served as its Chairman. He is currently the Chief of Ophthalmology at the Humber River Regional Hospital and sits on many advisory panels for Regionalization of Ophthalmic Surgical Services in Central Ontario. Finally, Dr. Rabinovitch is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
