PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
Clinical Pearls of the OCT in Glaucoma
Dr. Anthony Litwak, OD, FAAO and Dr. Danica Marrelli, OD, FAAO
Glaucoma is an optic neuropathy and damages ganglion cell axons at the level of the lamina cribrosa. Evaluation of the optic nerve and retinal nerve fiber layer is critical for making the diagnosis. Spectral domain OCT is an amazing technology that can assist in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. The process of comparing your patient’s OCT scan to a normal data base is detailed. Interpretation of the OCT printout is more complex than simply ‘green is normal’ and ‘red is abnormal.’ This course will review clinical pearls to accurately interpret optic nerve, NFL and macula ganglion cell data to provide better glaucoma patient care.

Laser Procedures for Primary Open Angle Glaucoma
Dr. Anu Laul, OD, FAAO, Dipl. ABO
Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG) affects about 70million people worldwide and is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss. Treatment for POAG includes eye pressure reduction, and since publication of the Laser inGlaucoma and Ocular Hypertension Trial (LiGHT) in 2019, laser treatment is more routinely offered as first line treatment. This lecture will review the 6-year results of the LiGHT trial and will also discuss patient selection, pre-operative and post-operative management of SLT. This lecture will also include newer research into lower powered SLT (COAST trial), direct SLT (GLAUriousTrial) and Femtosecond Laser Trabeculotomy (FLIGHT) procedure.
