Amit Gupta, MD, FACS
Dr. Amit Gupta is board certified in ophthalmology and fellowship trained in vitreo-retinal surgery. After almost 30 years in the U.S., he returned to his home in Toronto to be closer to his family. He completed medical school at Hahnemann University School of Medicine (now part of Drexel University) with many awards. His completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Eye and Ear Institute at the University of Pittsburgh and a surgical retina fellowship at Crozer-Chester Hospital in Philadelphia. During his fellowship, he helped developed the MAVE - Multi-Axis Vision Evaluator. Dr. Gupta had a private practice in the Poconos, in eastern Pennsylvania, and was chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Pocono Health System as well as the eye trauma surgeon at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem. Dr. Gupta was a Principal Investigator in human trials for Lucentis and its use in Wet Macular Degeneration. Prior to starting his career in medicine, he worked in the Silicone Valley as a computer engineer. He holds a degree in computer engineering from McMaster University and patents in both engineering and medicine.
