Vision Therapy Course - Vision Therapists

Our 30-hour specialized course is available to Vision Therapists, Registered Opticians, Optometric and Ophthalmic Assistants who work under the direct supervision of an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist.* Our course will take place over 3 weekends.

Vision Therapist’s Program

WEEKEND 2: SAT-SUN, MAY 2-3, 2020 | 12 Hours
Management of Non-Strabismic Binocular and Accomodative Vision Disorders

This weekend covers the foundational knowledge required to manage non-strabismic binocular vision/accommodative conditions. Treatment options including lenses, prisms and vision therapy will be covered. A review of case studies will enable the participant to be proficient in developing a treatment plan for non-strabismic binocular/accommodative disorders by the conclusion of the course. A hands-on workshop will afford participants the opportunity to practice common vision therapy techniques.

WEEKEND 4: SAT-SUN, JUNE 6-7, 2020 | 12 Hours
Visual Information Processing (VIP), Vision and Learning

This weekend covers the foundational elements necessary to evaluate the visual perceptual system of young children and the contribution of visual information processing deficits to the early foundations of reading. The course will cover the neurological and psychological aspects of visual perception, inter-sensory and sensorimotor systems, performance indicators such as laterality and directionality and visual spatial awareness characteristics. The course will also cover optometric perceptual testing to incorporate into one’s examination of these children. Special clinical conditions such as Down’s Syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia and learning disabilities will also be covered. A hands-on workshop will allow participants the opportunity to practice visual perceptual testing as well as implement vision therapy techniques that pertain to the remediation of these deficits.
