The prevalence of myopia is increasing worldwide, creating growing concern regarding the long-term ocular consequences associated with progressive and high myopia. This course will provide a clinically focused overview of contemporary myopia management, from the epidemiology and risks of progressive myopia to established and emerging treatment strategies. Evidence supporting orthokeratology, soft contact lenses, spectacle-based interventions, low-dose atropine and emerging therapies will be reviewed. Treatment selection, risk-benefit considerations, patient and parent communication and practical implementation in optometric practice will also be discussed.
