Behaviour of Light: A Comprehensive Review
Cory Boone and Ali Khan, RO
How do our eyes actually form images and what are glasses really doing to change this? Understanding the simple physics behind how eyes and glasses work is practical knowledge that will benefit an optician’s career. This presentation combines visual laser demonstrations and extensive industry experience to explain the fundamentals of light and ophthalmic technologies. By truly understanding what is happening to light as it enters the eye, how refractive errors distort that process and how corrective technologies like glasses and contact lenses redirect light to restore clarity, you are better equipped to explain these concepts to patients in meaningful and easy-to-understand ways. This deeper understanding allows you to tailor solutions, manage expectations and build trust because you know exactly what the corrective lenses are doing, not just that they work.
