

Dr. Jennifer Liao completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, receiving her Bachelor of Science with a double major in human biology and anthropology. She then moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she earned her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry, graduating with Beta Sigma Kappa honours. Following graduation, Dr. Liao furthered her interest and clinical training in specialty contact lens by pursuing a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the New England College of Optometry, where she worked with leading clinicians in the Greater Boston Area to manage complex ocular conditions with state-of-the-art contact lenses. Dr. Liao’s clinical interests include specialty contact lens management of irregular corneas and severe ocular surface diseases. Dr. Liao was a founding member of the Therapeutic Contact Lens Clinic at Kensington Vision and Research Centre and Canada’s first PROSE provider at its PROSE Clinic. She was the former Director of Contact Lens Services at the Vision Institute of Canada and associate optometrist at the Scarborough Optometric Clinic. Dr. Liao has lectured to optometry, optometry students and ophthalmology in local and national conferences. She was the recipient of numerous awards as a student, included the Dr. Edward Joseph Troendle Jr. Award for having “given highly of herself to the college and profession,” the F. Dow Smith Award for “leadership potential,” and the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanities Scholarship.
