Karl Chua is an experienced optical professional with over 20 years of industry experience. He currently serves as Distribution and Training Manager at the EssilorLuxottica Distribution Centre in Vancouver, Canada, where his responsibilities extend beyond warehouse operations to leading training initiatives that foster continuous learning and professional development. In addition to his industry role, Karl serves as an instructor at Stenberg College, teaching opticianry to students preparing for professional practice. He is also a speaker for the Optician Association of Canada, focusing on optical product knowledge, the technical aspects of modern equipment, and advanced lens technologies. His expertise has been featured in Optik magazine, where he has contributed articles on myopia control lenses. Karl is deeply committed to improving access to vision care and has led and participated in community initiatives providing free eyewear to underserved populations. He is actively involved in the EssilorLuxottica OneSight program, through which he has helped deliver vision care and eyewear to children in need. Throughout his career, Karl has been engaged in professional regulation and governance through the College of Opticians of British Columbia, serving on the Board of Directors from 2021 to 2024 and on the Registration and Patient Relations Committee. He currently serves on the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
